Saba Restaurant in Fairfax is a true gem for anyone craving authentic Yemeni cuisine. From the moment we stepped in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the stage for an exceptional dining experience. A special thank you to Dalia for her professionalism and dedication—she provided impeccable service, ensuring that our food arrived promptly while greeting us with a radiant smile. Her excellent recommendations elevated our meal, making the experience even more memorable. The authenticity of the food speaks for itself. Every dish bursts with rich flavors and unmistakable freshness. The meat was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and seasoned masterfully. The liver dish was beyond expectations, delivering depth of taste that truly impressed. For those seeking traditional Yemeni flavors crafted with care and passion, Saba Restaurant is the place to be. Highly recommended!
I love this place! It’s one of those places that you remember for the taste and flavour than anything else. 🙂 I love their maraq soup — so mild, yet so flavourful. Perfect for a rainy, wintry day but also great for when you’re feeling a bit under the weather. The soup is soulful. 🙂 Their hummus and baba ghanoush is simply great. The lamb mandi, khabsa, jareesh and fahsa beef are just mind blowing — their flavours are not overpowering but the taste is just homely. The desserts are great too especially the fatah dates and honey and the basboussa. All in all, totally worth it!! 🙂
This place is superb. The bread and hummus alone make it worth a trip. All of the portions are very large. The teas are all delicious. Fattoush salad is great. The rice and meat dishes are all cooked to perfection and have so much flavor. The vegetarian dishes are large and filling with lots of flavor. The service is superb, they go out of their way to make sure you get what you need. It definitely boosts their rating. Unfortunately it may be difficult to get breakfast items at night, so it would be a good idea to visit in the morning and see what that is like.
Amazing food! The staff was very nice and accommodating. They gave us a more private table and pulled a partition around so a niqabi can eat comfortably. The food was piping hot and full of flavor. The baba ghanouj is perfect and has that authentic smoky taste. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the portion sizes are family sizes, so huge.
Saba is an absolute gem! This is hands down the most authentic and delicious Yemeni food I've had since I actually lived in Yemen back in the early 2000s. I ordered the Baba Ghanouj and the Fahsa, and both were exceptional. The Fahsa arrived at the table literally steaming and bubbling in its traditional stone pot – a fantastic sight and sign of authenticity! The flavors were spot-on and transported me right back. The accompanying bread was clearly freshly baked, warm, and absolutely perfect for scooping up the delicious Fahsa and Baba Ghanouj. If you're looking for truly authentic Yemeni cuisine in the DC area, this is it. I haven't tasted anything else that comes close. Highly, highly recommend!
The food was EXCELLENT. We went in at a time right before it got pretty busy so we were lucky to find places to choose from. The place is clean and the food tasted amazing. Real Yemeni flavors and authentic dishes. The price was great as well! Their bread is honestly the best I’ve ever had and their soup was very inviting and homey.
My favorite restaurant in the world. I’ve been here 4 times now and every time the food and service are perfect. Even though it’s about an hour away from me I go out of my way to eat here because it’s that good. The fahsa and saltah are definitely my favorites. Yemeni food isn’t as common in Virginia as it is in Michigan, so I’m very thankful to have such an incredible restaurant here. While the food is what brought me here at first, it’s the amazing people that work here that keep me coming back. !شكرا
Love Yemeni food! So underrated! So flavorful and delicious! The bubbling fahsah was amazing with the delicious broth and tender meat. The bread perfect for sopping it all up! The haneeth was delicious the meat falls off the bone! A must try! The hummus was really good! I really liked it with the olives. The service was quick and staff were super nice! We were attended to really quickly, but we did go at a relatively quiet time during the day. The restaurant has a small hole in the wall vibes, but the food is big on taste and flavor!
Incredible Yemeni cuisine and thoughtful service! I'm so happy we stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant for lunch. We actually ordered both the meat and veggie sambousa, but they disappeared before I could get a full shot of the dish. It was that delicious! The Lamb Mandi was so tender and the seasoning and salt were very well-balanced. To top lunch off with dessert, we had the Fatah dates with honey and it was perfect~ Not too sweet, and just right. Perfectly paired with a steaming cup of gingery Qishr coffee. There's plenty of seating inside, though if you have a large party, you'll want to call ahead. The staff made us feel very welcome and were kind to suggest the menu items we were unfamiliar with. Absolutely looking forward to coming back next time I visit the area!
This was an amazing place to try out! The restaurant is cozy with very friendly service. I came here with three other people and we came hungry! We order a beef, lamb, and chicken dish along with hummus. Everything was so flavorful, filling, and well cooked. We asked the server for their recommendations and they did not steer us wrong. We also had the baklava and fatah, which were also both amazing and recommended.
We ordered to-go here and they were super quick and packed up everything very neatly! We tried the lamb kabsah, which was around $27, so a bit on a pricier side, however, the quantity is enough for 4 people or 2 large meals for 2 people. So, it is definitely worth it! Adel was super helpful in giving us recommendations and explanations of what each dish was! We are so happy with his recommendation. The lamb kabsah was very flavorful and the meat was cooked perfectly! They even gave us some green sauce on the side because we asked for some more spice. Great option for a late night meal! We will definitely be back!
